The architectural intent for Mont Albert Place was to create a range of home-sized apartments and boutique townhouses that provide a genuine upgrade and down-size offering in the local market. This intent is delivered through spacious internal planning complemented by large terraces and balconies. A rich palette of timber, masonry and concrete takes its cues from the established residential context and assists in articulation through a stepped form.

Our concept has taken its design cue from the large spreading tree canopies in the adjacent Kingsley Gardens, and the broader context of Box Hill as a city of public and private gardens. The building elements are enveloped in a deciduous tree canopy on all sides, giving the residents the warmth of the sun in the winter months, and dappled shade in the summer. Additionally to this, layered gardens form the base for these trees, with tall informal evergreen hedges, lower ornamental shrubs, and a range of smaller understory species.

The ground floor perimeter apartments all have generous terraces to enjoy this garden setting, with many also extending onto feature lawns. These terraces consist of either stone paving or high quality decks with an outlook onto ornamental gardens.
